NWSC Sportsmanship Mission Statement

Sportsmanship helps a child develop their characters, introduces them to the virtues of team spirit and teaches them to be humble in victory and optimistic in defeat. At the same time, it also gives them an insight into the benefits of playing sports.

Sportsmanship is a concept that implies adherence to the rules and regulations of a sport, and the following of proper sports etiquette.  There have been many advocates of good sportsmanship over the years.  Sportsmanship can define you as a player, a coach, an official and a parent.  We strongly believe that participation in the Northern Westchester Swim conference should inspire children of all ages, not discourage them, but leave them longing for what is to come the very next time they jump into the water.

2012 Swim Across America

Thanks to everyone in the NWSC family for making the first annual Swim Across America event at the Chappaqua Swim & Tennis Association a rousing success. Participants included swim team members, parents, and friends from Chappaqua, Birchwood, Willowbrook, Tarrycrest, and Mt. Kisco Memorial. Team Karen and David had 60 members and we surpassed both our team goal of $12,000.00 and our club goal of $20,000.00. The amount raised to this point is more than $25,000.00!! Bobby Hackett, the 1976 Olympic silver medalist in the 1500 meter free, gave an hour-long+ freestyle clinic to the kids who swam at the end of the event. Local merchants were more than generous in their food/drink donations. CST is proud to be affiliated with such a warm and generous swimming community. Thanks again...looking forward to next year's event!
